Macworld 2008

I know y’all have heard me whine about how iAccessories have invaded Macworld. But this was by far the funnest Macworld I’ve ever been to.
It’s all about the social.
I went to this year’s Macworld armed with Twitter, Google Docs, my iPhone and a camera.

Went to the usual badging line and started walking around. I was browsing the EFF booth at Moscone West when I got a call from Lunch20 and Twitter buddy Thomas Han telling me that he was watching Fake Steve being interviewed by Forbes and that I better get up there if I wanted to see him.
So I ran over from Moscone West to Moscone South, weaving through the sea of people crossing Howard. I was out of breath when I got there and was expecting to fight my way through a crowd of Fake Steve fans. I mean hello. He invented the fake iPod. Have you heard of it?
To my surprise there was no one else there waiting for him except for Thomas. I was excited to meet my favorite blogger at first, and then angry at all the frigtards who just passed him by. Nevermind all the iAccessories on the Exhibit Hall! Do you know who this guy is???

So here’s me and Dear Leader. Let me tell ya. I’m not washing that sweater.

I mean look at me! That look is beyond RDF.

So there we were. Following Dear Leader around. I couldn’t believe it. It can’t get any better than this. Walking around Macworld with Fake Steve. I had the urge to yell at people “make way for Fake Steve” but I didn’t want to embarrass Daniel Lyons. But I almost lost it when a couple of people cut him off while in line to touch and demo the Macbook Air.
Here he is, waiting in line just like everyone else.

I got some time to explore the Expo on my own after Fake Steve politely excused himself from his fangirl. I scored some Google swag by volunteering to get myself on YouTube talking about the Internet. I got some flip-flops, a pair of Google socks, and some cell phone holder thingie. All of that in exchange for a model release and my first born. Ah.
The things I do for swag.
Lunch time came and I consulted the Google Docs that Lunch20 founder Terry Chay sent me yesterday via Twitter. It had all the events happening around Macworld and the Twitter IDs of the folks coming. So met back up with Thomas and convinced him to go to the the WordPress Meetup at Chaat Cafe next to the Moscone. WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg and Mashable’s Pete Cashmore were behind us in line to order our food.

We sat with Mashable’s Jordan Chark and MacTeens’s Anthony Cole. It’s kinda sad when you’re 30 and you feel like you’re “over the hill.”

Here’s Anthony sporting the iClone that Verizon gave him to use at the Expo. Oh…Verizon…

Here are more pictures from the WordPress lunch with our new friends…

What a day…
Alright.
As Dear Leader would say…Namaste. Peace out.
