Powncing away

Once the most sought after invite in EarlyAdopter-ville, Pownce is finally out of private beta and opened up to the public last night.

(And I’m sure it’s unrelated, but the Twiterati have already pointed out the weird coincidence between the stock market crashing and the launch of Pownce. As in the market got Pownced?)

So anyhow. I’m giving Pownce another try.

It’s been months since I’ve logged on, and one of the things I noticed right away was the ability to import friends from other social networks.

Now when Pownce gives you the list of friends from other socnets, it is not clear to me whether they are current users of Pownce or whether they would be receiving invites to join. I’d hate to spam anyone.

Anyhoo. More on this as it develops?

Or an even more desperate plea — can someone start developing a Web2.0 application that isn’t about link-sharing and video and message-sharing? I’ve got enough, thanks.

Socnets are cool, in fact they are powerful. There’s gotta be something more to it than sharing what I ate for lunch.

haha yeah – the market did get pownced! (kinda too close to pwned…)

good point though – so many well-built tools without much purpose (yet). hopefully we’ll get it right with ZeccoShare and use socnets to make everyone better investors… do check it out, let us know what you think!
